IAB to be re-established in Ireland

10 August 2008

The Irish branch of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has been relaunched with a brief to raise awareness about digital advertising. AMAS Managing Director Aileen O’Toole has joined the interim board which comprises representatives from digital advertising, publishing, software, research and other related sectors.

IAB Ireland’s remit is to:

  • Promote digital and ensure it wins a higher percentage of advertising spend
  • Ensure professionalism and a common set of standards are adopted across the digital media sector
  • Commission and publish research on digital advertising and promotion
  • Represent the digital media sector with policymakers and other parties
  • Liaise with other associations worldwide on issues of common concern

IAB Ireland will be affiliated to IAB Europe, the network of trade associations representing the digital sector. There are currently 13 affiliates to IAB Europe and IAB is also established in the US and Canada.

IAB Europe’s vision is to:

  • Market the medium and reveal its potential, unmasking complexity and opening up its access
  • Protect the advertising environment in its early years and tackle head-on the challenges of embryonic standards and currencies
  • Galvanise market segments to speak with a single voice and share its messages with hundreds of diverse companies
  • Change the shape of marketing on the road to a ‘media-neutral’ advertising world
