Opsona Therapeutics is a drug development company that focuses on regulation of the human immune system.
The company is identifying and developing new drugs and vaccines to treat and prevent autoimmune / inflammatory diseases as well as infectious diseases.
Founded in March 2004, Opsona is a spin-out company from Trinity College Dublin.
Opsona’s academic founders are Professor Luke O’Neill, Professor Kingston Mills and Professor Dermot Kelleher, three of the world’s leading immunologists, and are considered world-leaders in their areas of expertise.
Opsona is validating and developing a number of exciting drug candidates and strategies which function by modulating the Innate Immune System.
Well-established
The company is specifically interested in the fields of Toll-Like Receptors (TLR) and the inflammasome.
Like many rapidly developing companies, Opsona outgrew its initial website. By early 2008, the site was no longer appropriate for the company in regard to:
- Design, which looked outdated
- Web content – factual information about the company which was out of date
- Messaging, which described the company as an early-stage start-up when it had made considerable progress and was now well-established
Enterprise Ireland initiative
Under Enterprise Ireland’s eBusiness Management Initiative, AMAS worked with Opsona to greatly enhance its use of the Internet.
The work programme included:
- Review of Opsona positioning, marketing and messages
- Audit of existing company website
- Competitive analysis of competitor and comparable sites
- Planning the redevelopment of the website and web content
- Assistance with supervising the site build
- Advising Opsona on a number of other communications and IT issues
- Developing a marketing plan for the redeveloped www.Opsona.com
As a result of the project, Opsona’s management and staff were empowered to make more effective use of the Internet for the future. In particular, they became familiar with site technologies and managing the company’s profile online.
